Consulting

Most Maximo Mobile projects start with a question that is harder than it looks. Can the shipped app do this, or do we need our own? Why is the first download on a new device so slow? What changes for our mobile users when we move from Maximo 7.6 to the Maximo Application Suite?

We answer those questions from the inside, with deep knowledge of Maximo Mobile and the Maximo Application Framework (MAF). A recommendation from us names the file, the setting or the object structure that it depends on.

What we offer
#

Maximo Mobile review. A fixed-scope look at your current mobile setup. We read your app customizations, your datasources and your offline configuration, and we measure what a device actually does on first login. You get a short written report with the findings, ranked by effort and benefit, and a call to walk through it.

Build or extend? For every new requirement there are three routes: configure a shipped app, extend it, or build a new MAF app. Extending goes well beyond AppCustomizations.js. The framework also lets us change the app’s app.xml and add custom application definitions, custom datasources and custom JavaScript objects such as controllers. We compare the routes for your case, including what each one costs you at the next MAS upgrade.

Moving to the Maximo Application Suite. A migration from Maximo 7.6 with Maximo Anywhere or a third-party mobile product changes how mobile works. We help you plan which apps move as they are, which ones need rework, and what your users will notice.

Architecture and integration. Maximo rarely stands alone. We design how your mobile processes, your object structures, your automation scripts and your interfaces to ERP, GIS or other systems work together, so that the solution works with the Maximo backend.

Second opinion. A design, a statement of work or a partner proposal that you want checked by someone independent. We read it and tell you plainly what we would change.

The background behind it
#

Wolfgang Fiedler has worked with IBM Maximo since version 6.2. That covers many years of Maximo customizations, custom applications, automation scripts and interfaces to other systems. On the mobile side it covers Interloc’s Mobile Informer, and now IBM Maximo Mobile and MAF on the Maximo Application Suite, where our focus lies today.

A lot of what we learn goes back out as articles in the Maximo Mobile and MAS Platform sections of this site. Reading a few of them is a good way to find out whether our way of working fits yours.
